Waylande Gregory was considered a major American sculptor during the 1930's, although he worked in ceramics, rather than in the more traditional bronze or marble. Similar to the technique developed by the ancient Etruscans, he fired his ceramic sculptures. Gregory achieved critical success and reached the peak of his artistic powers in the 1930s. After 1940, he no longer created monumental ceramic sculptures, but instead focused on production porcelains in Many Leading retail stores such as Mary Ryan, Tiffany & Company, B.
