This piece has been expertly hand crafted in earthy-toned stoneware clay with an unglazed surface which enables the natural beauty and texture of the clay to be fully appreciated. The top surface of the vessel is stylishly decorated with a harmoniously balanced inscribed design with combed arcs creating a wonderfully dynamic nature-inspired design.

MARKS: This vase is beautifully signed with Walter Wassings impressed "WW" mark to the upper rim. THE ARTIST: Dutch-born artist Walter Wassing (1935-) graduated from Gouda Technical school and worked as an Industrial Designer and Potter before emigrating to Australia in 1960. As the years progressed Wassing's creativity flourished and could no longer be repressed by the need to simply earn a living. During this period Wassing created incredibly artistic pottery pieces of the highest calibre, drawing inspiration from the Australian landscape. Wassing has been influential in establishing important Arts and Crafts workshops where he openly shared his knowledge of his chosen artform.An outstanding addition to any Walter Wassing or Australian pottery collection!
