Presenting an exceptional Australian Studio pottery ewer / vase created by Dagmar and Miloslav Kratochvil from their Ellis Studio in Abbotsford, Melbourne. This exquisite piece has a wonderfully sculptural and perfectly balanced modernist form, with sleek clean lines.

A fabulous example of Mid Century Australian pottery and a must have for any Ellis collection! This beautifully designed piece has a wide "UFO" shaped body leading to a long gently tapered neck and bird beak top rim. A sleekly curved handle perfectly balances the form. A deeply inscribed abstract design sweeps over the top of the UFO shaped body.

This magnificent example has been beautifully finished with a golden amber coloured glaze covering the body and blending smoothly to a metallic bronze glaze to the neck, pouring lip and handle. A subtle veined texture to the metallic glaze wonderfully accentuates its sparkle. A deep, rich brown glaze beautifully defines the inscribed design, with raised sand-like grains of deep brown appearing within the design adding a fabulous textural element to the design.

This striking modernist piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is light and fine overall crazing, as is to be expected with a piece of this vintage but mentioned for complete accuracy. This piece has been exceptionally well cared for and presents spectacularly.

This stunning example retains its original "Ellis Ceramics" paper label with the hand written numerical shape code "14", wonderfully authenticating this is a genuine vintage piece of Ellis pottery. This exceptionally impressive piece stands approx 260mms tall and measures 170mms in diameter at its widest.
