Smoke free, pet free home. David Stewart is an American educator, painter/potter and former assistant to the late renowned artist Marguerite Wildenhain for nearly 20 years. Stewart was one of the original apprentices of Wildenhain, whom herself was the apprentice of renowned German artist Gerard Marcus at the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany in the late 1920's and early 1930's. Stewart studied industrial design at San Diego State University in San Diego, California, graduating in 1958.

He became an assistant instructor at the noted Pond Farm artists colony in 1962, teaching alongside the Marguerite Wildenhain for many years. The colony inspired by Frank Lloyd Wrights Taliesin, was home to Wildenhain and served as an elite artist community hosting artists from across the world from the mid 1940's until 1985. By the early 1980s, Stewart became a full-time master potter owning and operating a boutique shop and gallery at Bazaar del Mundo in Old Town, San Diego. Stewart had his own pottery label with Lions Valley Stoneware for many years and was is a sought after consultant to the ceramics industry for design, clay body and glazes. Stewart has exhibited in the United States, Japan, Australia and Canada. His pottery and paintings are represented in several museums throughout the world.
