In 1970, Paul Epple made a spur-of-the-moment decision to quit his job in the Cities and move to Isle. Epple spent the next 18 years developing his talent for creating pottery and high-fire stoneware. He earned a living by working sometimes in the Cities... And doing odd jobs and began marketing his pottery at shops in Minneapolis. Presently, he is making a living with the pottery. Epple described his best work as his'crowning glory'? The sculpture he did for Faith Lutheran Church in Isle when it was being built in the late'80s. The sculpture, called'God Victor' was a community effort by Epple and a group of senior citizens who joined him in creating it. He is also very proud that his work sells at the gift shop at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. As printed in the Mille Lacks Messenger, 2002.
