Unpacked, it weighs 1 pound 7.8 ounces. This pot has an interesting, modernist form, which is covered with contrasting light and dark glossy glazes. This would be a fine addition to a collection of studio ceramics.
Identification This piece is incised beneath, as shown, with a conjoined RR mark; the first R is backwards. Per the Vasefinder Museum, this mark was confirmed through written correspondence with the artist. The following biographical information is also from Vasefinder.Rippon studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts with Antonio Prieto; later, she was his assistant at Mills College. Rippon founded the ceramics program at CSU Sacramento after accepting a teaching position there in 1956.
She exhibited at the Nationals in 1951, 1954 through 1960, and in 1964. Condition This vase looks great overall, with no chips or cracks.
