Unusual and rare swirl glaze Van Briggle vase from the 1930's era. This was glazed in the style of Eric Hellman's Garden of the Gods Pottery.

He worked for Van Briggle for a time and this would have been one of his creations. Other than under glaze crazing, this piece remains in just incredible condition. Ive rec'd some interesting comments. And yes, it is my OPINION that this is factory coloration. I have removed that paint 3 times. This is not that type of paint. I first tried to scrape this paint with my fingernail.

It is hard and thin and did not scratch. Next, cold water and a finger rub. This at least made an impact on the acrylic paints. Next, hot soapy water and a rag................. Next, I dipped a toothpick in stripper and touched just a pinhead dot to sit for an hour (checking often with a loupe)..........

Also, I dont think crazing would ever show thru the thicker application of these types of finish. Van Briggle made weird stuff to take to the 1933 Worlds Fair.

This dates to the 30's. The pottery that they took to the fair had a slight variation in the AA mark. The mark was made with a thinner "AA" mark....... Just like this vase has. So, there is a really good chance that this was made for the 1933 Worlds fair. Again, this is just my opinion and I can prove nothing. Thx for looking and my apology for being long winded here.
