The maternity pot is Stettin ware, a type of folk Pomeranian ceramics, which was exported via Stettin to areas including southern Denmark. In Copenhagen, the characteristic shape of the maternity pot is known from the 1600s. Barselspotte (Maternity Pot): A traditional ceramic vessel used in Denmark to bring nourishing food (like porridge or soup) to a woman who had recently given birth. Stettinergods (Stettin ware): Earthenware produced in the Pomerania region (modern-day Poland/Germany) and traded through the port city of Stettin (Szczecin). Maribo: A historic town located on the island of Lolland in southern Denmark. 11" Tall by 7.5" wide A striking and historical piece that can only be found in museums these days. This piece was handed down through generations within a German family whom eventually left Europe and migrated to southern Wisconsin and became farmers.

This piece was used to store and carry eggs - able to hold well over a dozen.
