Vintage John Preuss Studio Pottery Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this monumental, vintage studio art pottery vase by the California artist, John Preuss. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This hand thrown pot stands approximately 22 3/8 inches tall, and it has a maximum width of about 10 inches.

Unpacked, it weighs 13 pounds 15.6 ounces. This stoneware vase has tan and brown glazes.

It is attractively glazed and impressively sized. It would be a fine addition to a mid-century modern decor.

Identification This pottery vase is dated beneath "73" (1973). It was made by John Preuss of Moss Beach, California. Preuss exhibited at the Court House Gallery in Santa Cruz during the early 1970s.

Condition This pot looks great overall, with no chips or post-production cracks. It has light wear, and there are some fine metallic scuff marks here or there to the exterior.

Beneath, as shown, there is a firing fissure, as made (see Photo 5). Also as made, there is slight asymmetry to the rim. Variations in glazing are as made. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
