MCM FunLion1 Vintage Marcello Fantoni for Raymor 8 Sculpture Italian Art Pottery. Through the 50s and 60s he made many cubist-inspired vases and ewers painted in colors bordered by.
Lines scratched through the paint in a manner evoking Picasso and Braque. Along with figurative and abstract works, the 60s also saw Fantoni creating brutalist pieces with edgy, angular shapes. His work has been displayed at.MoMA New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, Brooklyn Museum, Museum of Fine Art of Boston, Victoria and Albert Museum of London, Royal Scottish Museum of Edinburg, Museums of Modern Art of Tokyo and Kyoto, International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, National Bargello Museum and Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe of the Uffizi in Florence. This fun, funky, Italian Brutalist lion head sculpture is so clever; the sgraffito lines are scratched for his mane on his front sides, and back. He is in great condition; however, there are two tiny crack lines on the base that appear to have been repaired at the original factory. There is a remnant of the Raymor sticker on the base, and you can clearly read Raymor on this sticker, but the details with the price and model number have faded away with time.
