Martin Boyd Vintage Hand Painted 9 Tile Map Of Australia signed. Absolutely stunning hand painted 9 tile map of Australia, with all sort going on in storytelling almost cartoon type of way. Showing topographical , marine , animals, aboriginal, mining prospecting and a host of other pointers as to all things Australian.. A lot of fun on 9 tiles. Whilst I don't know the exact date Martin Boyd painted these late 50s to 60s is most likely.

I have been researching these for a while. I can find no reference to this set at all. On the reverse of each tile is pencil written : "Set B".

That would indicate that there was at least at one point. Now with all the catalogued works on Martin Boyds wares it seems incredible that I can find no reference to this set or any set the same. I mean such a work would stick out as diffrent from many of his styles and not least on patriotic terms as they depict a Nation in art by a Important Australian artist. I have seen sets of tiles in Aboriginal style , or singular aboriginal portrait tiles. So does Set A still exist?

Size of tiles is 150mm × 150mm each Making up a 9 tile square 450mm × 450mm. Condition is very good genrally. A few minor chips and some glaze crackling to 4 of the 9 tiles. I will condition report each tile below , 1 to 9 as reading a book. 1 being top left 3 being top right and 9 being bottom right.

Tile 2 small chip to top left hand corner , we have piece taped to back of tile. Some glaze crackling Tile 3 No Damage. Tile 4 Small chip to bush top of right hand edge. Tile 5 Some glaze crackling. Tile 6 small chip to corn bush bottom edge by ocean.

Tile 7 Some glaze crackling. Tile 9 Some glaze crackling. All in all very good condition, minor damage that doesn't take away from overall eye candy. Happy to answer any questions you may have. Would be happy to hear from anyone who has more info on this possibly unique set of tiles.
