Hand thrown pottery vase made by studio potter Mark Chamberlain, a ceramic modernist potter who worked in Iowa and Florida. Mark operated the Clay Gallery with Teresa Bowen in New Smyrna Beach, Florida until his passing in 1998. The gallery remains open to this day under Teresa's ownership.
This hand thrown weed pot style vase is glazed inside and out in a deep charcoal gray matte glaze with a free form cosmic outer surface decoration done in soft tones of pink, pale blue, foamy teal green and jet black. The unglazed bottom ring has a smooth substance glued to it firmly, possibly a surface protection as the unglazed clay is coarse and rough (see pictures for better description). It partly obscures the faint impressed signature. Normal small production pits and bumps but no damage noted - no glaze chips, cracks, scratches nor stains.
Measures approximately 7" at the widest, 4" tall, opening 3/4 and weighs 1 lb. We are happy to bundle orders when practicable and often use recycled packing.
