Large Ben Kypridakis Stoneware Vase. Australian Studio Pottery
A vase by Ben Kypridakis signed and dated'87. Large, impressive - a true statement piece - shaped as a compressed bottle, with gorgeous multicoloured glazes which include purple, orange and black. In excellent vintage condition, no issues. Ben Kypridakis (1932-) was born in Sacramento, California. After serving in Korea he studied painting and ceramics at the University of Iowa, completing a masters degree in 1962. In 1963, Adelaide's Kym Bonython gave Kypridakis his first exhibition in Australia. He makes elegant thrown stoneware and porcelain vessels and platters with lustrous surface finishes, decorating some with decals or multiple transfers in a baroque painting style.
Size: about 16 cm high, 33 cm across, weight 5.1 Kg. Please view all the photos before purchasing, they complete the description. While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting.
All white spots are purely light reflections from the camera flash. The item will first be wrapped bubble before packing securely in a solid box with lots of peanuts - earthquake proof. Please forgive the odd occasion should this extend to 2-3 days. This item is in the category "Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Vases".
