" It was made by Bernard "Ben Kypridakis (1932-). Per the Vasefinder Museum, Kypridakis was born in Sacramento, California. He studied painting and lithography at CSU Sacramento before moving on to ceramics. At CSU he met his mentor, Ruth Rippon.
From the University of Iowa in 1962, and then he taught in Australia for a few years. Returning to California during the mid 1960s, he taught art at CSU Sacramento for a decade. He then moved back to Australia to again teach art.
He has exhibited widely, including at the California State Fair, Kingsley Art Club (Sacramento), Everson Museum of Art (Syracuse, New York), National Decorative Arts Ceramic Exhibition of Wichita, Kansas, Kansas Young Americans, Museum of Contemporary Crafts (New York), Craftsman of Central States (Indianapolis), Annual Scripps College International (Los Angeles), Expo 67 Designer Styles (Adelaide, South Australia). Kypridakis also exhibited at the Nationals during 1962 and 1966. Condition This piece looks very good overall, with light wear. It has no chips or cracks.
A few light scuffs to the exterior do not detract. Variations in glazing are as made, as is minor lip asymmetry.
