Gail Markiewicz is a contemporary ceramic artist known for her unique, textural, and often patchwork-style art pottery. Her work (often described as postmodern) incorporates elements of abstraction and Brutalism.

This piece showcases many of the defining features of her work - especially the use of a patchwork technique where individual pieces of clay are rolled out, textured, and then assembled to create sculptural forms.
