Arge signed studio pottery charger by California ceramic artist Cliff Glover, based in Albion near Mendocino. Hand-thrown stoneware with a warm earth-tone glaze in shades of cream, tan and iron brown. The surface features concentric throwing marks, scattered iron spotting and freely brushed brown decoration, giving the piece a strong organic / Japanese-influenced studio pottery appearance.
The reverse is signed "Cliff Glover" in the clay and retains a wire hanger, allowing the charger to be displayed as wall art. Glover is a longtime professional potter whose work emphasizes functional ceramics, Japanese tea aesthetics, earth-tone glazes and traditional firing techniques. His pottery has also been used as part of the San Francisco Asian Art Museum's educational tea program. Please refer to photographs for exact dimensions, glaze variation and condition. A substantial and visually striking example of contemporary California studio pottery, suitable for display as a charger, wall piece or centerpiece.
