Charles Counts, Gorgeous Blue Studio Art Ceramic Vase Pottery Signed Vintage, 6

Charles Counts (19342000) was an American potter, designer, textile artist, quilter, teacher, writer, and activist. Counts worked to preserve the art forms of his native Appalachia, and later moved to Nigeria where he taught until his death. This gorgeous bulbous vase is another example of Counts' mastery and craftsmanship.

At closer inspection we see majestic explosion of colors: Sea green, Cerulean, Navy, White, Yellow Ochre, Brown Ochre, Umber. The marbled glaze effect and the textural elements on the exterior create a lasting and memorable beauty effect.

Art at this level is destined to be at the museums. The vase is approximately 6 tall and is in excellent vintage condition.
