Antique pre 1921 Nippon Ware Bowl W Detailed Moriage, Enamel Paint & Gilding l0

A Stunning Antique, Meiji period (1868 to 1912), Nippon ware (Japan) Serving Bowl, it features hand painted flowers with detailed Moriage, some of those have been enhanced with colored Enamel Paint & the bowl features heavy Gilding throughout. Pre-owned but still in rare excellent condition for it's age: no chips, no cracks and no repairs. No utensil marks and minimal fading of colors or the gold guild. The Maker's Mark at the bottom was verified by Marks4Antiques. See pictures for better details and condition. Is the official name for the country of Japan and it literally means "Rising Sun" as also attested by their national flag.

It is nowadays widely accepted as the standard way to refer to the two periods of pre-1921 as. Moriage is composed of liquid clay called "slip" that was applied using a hollow bamboo tube. Many of the pieces found with this raised slip decoration are marked with one of the various "Nippon" marks that were in use from 1891 to about 1921.
