Andrew Berends Vintage Studio Pottery Large Raku Sphere Vessel Vase

This vintage art pottery vase or vessel is handcrafted by noted Vermont ceramicist, Andrew Berends. Raku pottery originated in Japan during the 16th century and was originally intended to be use as ceremonial tea ware.

Berends' studio art pottery is a combination of Raku and contemporary design, with the stunning contrasting colors of turquoise blue, black, grey and hints of metallic shades. Interior is finished with a matte black glaze.
