1954 LAURA ANDRESON Vintage MID-CENTURY MODERN Signed STONEWARE Bowl CALIFORNIA. Bottom is hand incised: "Laura Andreson / 1954". An exceptional work with a lovely green metallic glaze. Andreson was an American ceramic artist and educator at the University of California Los Angeles.

In 1933, she established one of the first academic ceramics programs in America at the University, and is credited with reviving the art of pottery making in America. In her time at the University, Andreson is credited with teaching more than 5,000 students.

Measures 7 1/2" in diameter, and stands 3 1/4" tall. Displays beautifully, with a kiln / firing line encircling the foot, as made. Otherwise excellent, with no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, crazing, stains, or repairs. Note: Some photos of the signature were taken with a flash, for clarity, and in those photos the glaze appears more vivid than actual. Guaranteed to be vintage, and not a modern reproduction!
