Large studio pottery vase by Karl Christiansen. With incised and cut-out decoration.

Incised signature on bottom along with a paper tag from Iowa Crafts 3 -1970. Where it was displayed at the MacNider Museum, Mason City Iowa. Nice large vase measuring 12 7/8" tall and about 9 1/2" wide.

Weighs just over 7 pounds. Earned a Master's of Art Education degree from the University of Minnesota, as well as a master's degree in fine arts from the University of Iowa.

He taught art at Alexandria, Minn. High School for two years, followed by a position at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he started the department for pottery. He was a potter and teacher at the Art Gallery in Davenport for many years.
