Maker unknown however signed Orlov to the base. Originating from an extensive private studio pottery collection with a diverse representation of potters we are pleased to offer this superb vintage studio pottery lidded jar decorated with line design matt brown glazes signed Orlov and dating from the 20th century. This finely made stoneware jar stands on a rounded unglazed foot and is of rounded bulbous shape with a narrow raised top opening and with a fitted cover. The jar is decorated with a painted brown strip design around the body and to the cover and applied against the natural stone finish of the jar. The inner jar has a stone coloured glaze and the jar is incised ORLOV to the base.
