Vintage Rare Set of 2 Raymond Gallucci Contemporary Art Studio Hand Thrown Pennsylvania Pottery Bowl Glazed Stoneware Pot Lidded Vessel. He graduated from Parkland High School, where he was a student of William Swallow. He was also, later, a student of the potter, Harold Mantz.
A in painting from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, in Philadelphia, in 1953. He taught private classes, and at the Baum School of Art, for 14 years. The majority of his work is functional pottery, and large scale mosaic installations. In 1980, he received the Pennsylvania Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts. He exhibited at Ceramic Masterworks - at Moderne Gallery in Philadelphia, in 2002. His ceramics are part of the Lehigh Valley's cultural clay. His pots are in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Museum. His work is also in the personal collection of author, James Michener. This gorgeous set is signed. And numbered on the bottom 182 and 203. It is hand thrown, glazed over with brown, tan and beige colors.1 pot - 7.5"tall x 6" top diameter, 2 pot - 5.6"tall x 4.5" top diameter. Both pots is in mint original condition, and is a lovely example of the remarkable glaze in functional art pottery the artist was known, and remembered for.
