Please excuse any glare in the photos. This moon pot has a bulbous body, and a narrow neck and mouth. Abstract, glazed decoration wraps around the sides of the vase.
This piece is approximately 7 3/4 inches tall, with a maximum width of about 5 1/2 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 2 pounds 3.7 ounces.
It would be a fine addition to a collection of American studio ceramics. Kim was born in Manteca, California. Per the Vasefinder online museum, he served in World War II.He was an instructor at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Kim had studios in San Francisco and Palo Alto. He exhibited at the Association of San Francisco Potters during the 1950s, at the Nationals during the 1960s, and at the Pacific Coast Exhibition and Sale. Condition This pot looks very good overall, with no chips or post-production cracks. It has very light wear.
As made and as shown in Photo 5, there is a curved firing fissure beneath. Variations in glazing are as made.
