Vintage Eileen & Rossi Reynolds San Francisco California Studio Art Pottery Bowl
Vintage Reynolds Studio Art Pottery Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage, studio art pottery bowl by Rossi and Eileen Reynolds. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This piece is approximately 3 1/8 inches tall and 7 7/8 inches wide. It weighs 15.8 ounces, unpacked. This piece has a drippy blue glaze over a brick red clay body.
It is nicely thrown, with thin walls; throwing rings are visible. This would be a great addition to a studio art pottery collection, or it would look superb in a mid-century modern decor.
Identification This piece is marked beneath on the foot ring, as shown, R&E REYNOLDS 1945 SF. Rossi & Eileen Reynolds are listed potters in the Vasefinder museum. Per Vasefinder, the husband and wife team exhibited at the Association of San Francisco Potters during the 1950s. They exhibited at the Nationals from 1946 to 1949.
Condition This piece looks very good, with no chips. It has a very fine, vertical hairline crack from the rim downward. This is very difficult to find; under magnification, I was able to see that it is about 1 3/4 inches long. The bowl has very light wear. Variations in glazing and very minor asymmetry are as made.
