Vintage 1981 Andersen Design Studio Boothbay Maine Canada Goose 11 withStamp/Date
This is a vintage stamped and dated Andersen Design Studio pottery figurine of a Canada Goose. Piece is stamped/dated "AD 1981" on bottom. This beautiful piece measures 11 inches long, is approximately 4 1/2" wide, and stands almost 8" tall to top of head. This life-like, naturalistic piece is stunning; lovely mottling of browns and grey tones that realistically depict his feathers and facial features. Has a moderately shiny glaze that lends just the right touch.
As shown in photo, the original piece green piece of felt on its bottom is detached but has been kept with it; it is slightly faded and has some glue residue on it. Also has the original gold foil label with it; glue is dried so no longer sticks to stoneware or the felt.
This piece is clean and odor-free. Was displayed in an adult-only home and more recently has been in storage. Has no chips or flecks. Does have one very thin crack on underside of the front breast area; at first I wondered if it might be a flaw incurred during its production; it may be, but it also may be an after production crack.
It is slightly curved and measures approximately 2 long. It's very thin and fine; to be honest I felt it before I even noticed it. When the Canada goose is in its sitting position, this is not noticeable. All in all this is a scarce, vintage piece of gorgeous Andersen Studio pottery.
