RARE GUS & BETTY McLAREN 1960's 1970's ART STUDIO POTTERY CAT VINTAGE RETRO

A Rare Gus & Betty McLaren (Australian)'Comic Cat' Figurine. A wonderful, smile-inducing piece of mid-century art pottery from niche Australian potting duo, Gus and Betty McLaren. Straight from the mid-century modern period c. 1960 - 1970 this piece, relatively early would have been made at the McLaren's Yarraridge Pottery. The figurine is slip-cast in hollow earthenware and is decorated with a series of incised geometric designs.

The whole is covered in a pale, freckled green engobe slip glaze. Fully signed to the base, as shown. Very original and utterly of the period, with a fun and inventiveness all of it's own. A great addition to a mid-century modern interior or ceramics collection.

15cms high x 25 cms across (at widest points). In superb condition, free from any faults, damage or restoration. All items are packed with care, to a high standard and sent via tracked and signed for courier. Arrived on time and as described. If I could leave a million stars, I would.
