Vintage Sasha Makovkin Studio Art Pottery Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this large, vintage Sasha Makovkin studio art pottery bowl. Please excuse the glare in the photos.This hand thrown piece is about 4 1/2 inches tall, and it has a rim diameter of approximately 15 inches. It weighs 6 pounds 1.2 ounces, unpacked. It has multicolored glazes in blue and browns. It would be a great addition to a studio ceramics collection, or it would look superb in a mid-century modern decor. Identification This vintage piece is marked beneath, as shown. Per Vasefinder, Makovkin was a Canadian, of Russian descent. A couple of years after graduating from the University of British Columbia, Makovkin moved to Mill Valley, California. He worked at the Heath pottery studio in Sausalito. He studied with Marguerite Wildenhain before founding his own studio. During the 1950s, Makovkin exhibited at the Association of San Francisco Potters and at the San Francisco Art Festivals. Condition This bowl looks great overall. There are no cracks or chips.
