Vintage 1987 Postmodern Abstract Embellished Ceramic Art by Ralph & Sandy Terry

Fascinating ceramic piece made by Ralph and Sandy Terry of The Terry Pottery Studio based out of Norwell, MA. The piece is signed and dated 1987. The decorative piece of art is one of a kind and extremely intricate. This piece is has a scroll element to it, like its opening up to display the treasure while unraveled.

I've never seen anything like it. The vintage piece showcases intricate bisque and pastel appliqués on a light beige ceramic, featuring a matte finish. The postmodern style and 3D effect and its textured design adds to the artistry. They use gems, beads and other metallic appliqués, placed with extreme precision.

Ralph & Sandy Terry are notable American ceramicists known for their intricate hand-formed studio pottery, gaining popularity during the 1980s. As they describe their work: Our pottery consists of a collection of thrown and handbuilt forms in white stoneware with intricate incised designs, stained in delicate colors and embellished with brightly colored metallic lusters. Dimensions: 10.75"L x 8.75"W x 1.25H. Condition: In great vintage condition with some dark areas on the art piece but no chips or cracks.
