This lamp has a piece of raku pottery that kind of looks like a globe. By itself, it's 14.5" wide and 14" tall.
The top half is mostly light blue, with the bottom half varying shades of green, and a big red area on one side. The upper half has a smooth glaze, and the bottom half has some type of glaze that adds a lot of texture and a slightly metallic appearance. Looking at other raku pieces out there, my best guess is that it's made by Mark Hines.
I found other pieces by him that are also large bulbous shapes, and several that look like they have the same blue/green/red glaze just like this one. Based on the plug (and former socket), I'm guessing it was made in the 1980's. This one had a damaged socket shell, so I removed it and replaced it with a new one. I did not replace the socket or cord, as they are in good condition. The lamp is overall in good shape with minimal signs of use.
The finial is made from wood and metal with a painted surface that has chips and wear.
