Vintage Barbara Willis Signed California Studio Pottery Slab Vase - Model 642 A Up for sale is an authentic, highly collectible mid-century modern slab vase by renowned California studio potter Barbara Willis. Active during the 1940s and 1950s in Los Angeles, Willis is celebrated for her clean geometric forms, contrasting textures, and iconic glazes. This rectangular block vase features her classic design: a glossy, pale sage green crackle (crazed) glaze on the top portion, beautifully juxtaposed against an unglazed, horizontally ribbed/grooved buff clay base.

Markings & Authenticity: Inscribed on Bottom: Hand-signed "Barbara Willis" and numbered "642 A" incised directly into the wet clay base prior to firing. Detailed Condition Report: Please review the high-resolution photos carefully, as they serve as the primary description of the item's vintage condition: The Glaze: Features an intentional, beautiful overall crazed/crackle pattern which is bright and glossy. Top Rim: There are a couple of very small, minor fleabites/chips along the top glazed edge where the raw clay is exposed (detailed in close-up photo 8).

Glaze Pops: There is a tiny pinpoint glaze pop/skip from the original kiln firing on the face (detailed in close-up photo 7). Base & Sides: The unglazed ribbed bottom portion shows minor, expected shelf scuffs and slight vintage discoloration on the raw clay, typical for a piece of this age. No major cracks or repairs.

Approximate Dimensions: Height: 7.25 inches Width: 6.25 inches Depth: 2.25 inches Note: Because these are hand-built studio pieces, slight variations in size and shape are normal.
