In 1946 Senska came to Bozeman, Montana, after studying art with Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Gyorgy Kepes, Maija Grotell, and Edth Heath. In that year she started the ceramics department at Montana State College, now Montana State University.
Her influence gave birth to the work of many significant American artistic greats, including that of her early ceramics students, Peter Voulkos and Rudy Autio. In a Missoula Art Museum exhibition in 2001 Ms. Senska explained that the sgraffito images of insects, animals and symbols on the pot recall her childhood in Batanga, Cameroon where she learned of Ya Ba Bo as a Bassa medicine man's incantation meaning'it will be nine. Nine is the lucky number, so this promises that everything will be okay. This pot is in excellent condition and measures 8" tall x approx 7" wide. Not many of these pots were created and each one is, of course, unique. SEE MY LISTINGS FOR JEWELRY, ANTIQUES AND INTERESTING COLLECTIBLES.
