STEVEN HILL - Large Vintage MELON Pitcher - Studio Potter. I'm the original owner of this beautiful pitcher. It's a good example of Steven Hill's mastery of making complex wheel-thrown forms, and his skills applying slips, altering forms, pulling handles, making spouts/rims and single-fire glazing. I bought it directly from the artist at the Milwaukee Art Museum's Lakefront Festival of Art more than 20 years ago. I own other pieces by the artist, and it's time to thin my collection.
The pitcher is in great shape with no damage. The glaze is matt in some spots, and glossy in others. It weighs about 3 1/4 pounds and measures about 9 1/4" high, and about 6 1/2" at its widest point.
It's about 4" wide at the top, and the narrow foot is about 2 3/4" wide. Photos show the actual item(s) up for sale. My home is smoke-free and pet-free. Please contact me with any questions.
